Why Is My Furnace Not Working?

There isn't one answer to this question. Modern gas furnaces have several safety controls and components that must operate correctly before the furnace will produce heat.

Can I Troubleshoot My Furnace Myself?

There are a few basic things homeowners can safely check before calling for service.

Make sure your thermostat is set to heat and set above the current room temperature. Check that the furnace power switch hasn't accidentally been turned off and take a look at your furnace filter.

If the furnace still isn't working, repeatedly resetting it or replacing parts without knowing the cause isn't a good idea.
