I love My Job! My Story

My story is a humble one—and in many ways, it still is.

My name is Matthew, and it has taken me years to realize something about myself: I genuinely enjoy my job as a duct cleaner.

People have asked me why. You're an experienced HVAC technician, so why would you want to clean ducts?

It's a fair question.

As a licensed HVAC technician, I've spent years working on gas appliances, including furnaces, boilers, water heaters, fireplaces and gas ranges. I've also worked extensively in air conditioning, servicing and repairing central air conditioners, ductless split systems and heat pumps.

Over the years, though, I've come to realize that while there's certainly satisfaction in brazing a refrigerant line, diagnosing an air-conditioning problem or finding a leak, my true enjoyment in the HVAC trade has always been on the preventative maintenance side of the industry.

And duct cleaning is one of those things I genuinely love doing.

Why Duct Cleaning?

Is that a little unusual? Perhaps.

Maybe it's the satisfaction of seeing a dirty duct system become clean. Maybe it's pulling out a dirty blower assembly and seeing the difference after it's been properly cleaned.

Whatever the reason, the fact is I enjoy cleaning duct systems.

I also enjoy HVAC maintenance. Furnace maintenance, fireplace maintenance and air-conditioning maintenance have always been some of my favourite parts of working in the trade. There's something rewarding about maintaining equipment properly rather than simply waiting for it to break.

Why I Started SDG Duct Cleaning

After years of working in the HVAC industry, I made the decision to leave a well-respected HVAC company in Eastern Ontario and put my experience into building SDG Duct Cleaning.

This isn't a business I started because I thought duct cleaning would be an easy way to make money. It's something I've chosen to build because I have years of experience doing this work and, quite simply, I enjoy it.

My HVAC background also means that when I'm cleaning your ductwork, I understand the equipment connected to it. I understand the furnace, blower, air-conditioning coil, airflow and the other components that make up your home's HVAC system.

I look forward to continuing to clean and maintain HVAC systems throughout Cornwall, SDG and Eastern Ontario for many years to come.
