Light Commercial Duct Cleaning in Cornwall & SDG
SDG Duct Cleaning provides professional light commercial duct cleaning in Cornwall, SDG and surrounding Eastern Ontario communities.
We work with smaller commercial buildings and businesses that use ducted heating and cooling systems similar to those found in larger residential properties.
Our focus is straightforward: properly clean the accessible supply ducts, return ducts and main trunk lines using professional negative-air equipment and compressed-air agitation.
Commercial Duct Cleaning by HVAC Technicians
Commercial duct cleaning involves more than simply vacuuming around registers.
We're HVAC technicians, so we understand the heating and cooling equipment connected to the duct system we're cleaning.
Before beginning, we look at the HVAC system, duct layout and accessibility so we can determine the best way to approach the job.
Depending on the system, our commercial duct-cleaning process can include:
- Inspection of the accessible HVAC and duct system
- Connecting professional negative-air equipment
- Placing the duct system under negative pressure
- Cleaning individual supply ducts
- Cleaning individual return ducts
- Cleaning accessible main supply trunk lines
- Cleaning accessible main return trunk lines
- Cleaning registers and grilles
- Sealing access points created for cleaning
- Final inspection of the areas we've cleaned
What Types of Commercial Buildings Do We Clean?
Our light commercial duct-cleaning service is intended for smaller commercial properties such as:
- Offices
- Retail stores
- Small professional buildings
- Churches
- Daycares
- Small apartment and multi-unit buildings
- Restaurants with suitable ducted HVAC systems
- Other small commercial properties
Larger commercial and industrial HVAC systems may require specialized equipment beyond the type of work we provide.
Every Commercial Duct System Is Different
Commercial ductwork can vary considerably from one building to another.
The number of HVAC systems, size of the ductwork, ceiling height, location of the equipment and accessibility of the main trunk lines can all affect how the system needs to be cleaned.
For that reason, we don't treat every commercial duct-cleaning job as though it's the same.
Before providing a final price, we may ask for information about the building, photos of the HVAC equipment or arrange to look at the system.
Our Light Commercial Duct Cleaning Process
1. Inspect the System
We start by looking at the HVAC equipment and accessible ductwork.
This allows us to determine how many systems are involved, where the main supply and return ducts are located and how we're going to access them.
2. Connect the Negative-Air Equipment
Our commercial vacuum equipment is connected to the duct system.
The purpose is to create negative pressure inside the ductwork so loosened dust and debris are pulled toward our collection equipment during cleaning.
3. Clean the Individual Ducts
Individual supply and return ducts are cleaned using compressed air and agitation equipment.
Dust and debris are loosened from inside the ductwork while the system remains under negative pressure.
4. Clean the Main Trunk Lines
Cleaning only the individual branches doesn't address everything that has accumulated inside the system.
Accessible main supply and return trunk lines are also cleaned as part of the process.
5. Final Inspection & Reassembly
Once cleaning is complete, access points created for the cleaning are properly sealed and removed registers or grilles are reinstalled.
We then perform a final check of the work area and accessible portions of the system.
When Should a Commercial Duct System Be Cleaned?
There isn't one cleaning schedule that applies to every commercial building.
Duct cleaning may be worth considering when:
- The building has undergone renovations
- There is visible debris inside the ductwork
- Significant dust has accumulated inside the system
- The building has recently changed ownership or occupancy
- The history of the duct system is unknown
- Construction debris has entered the ductwork
- The system hasn't been professionally cleaned in many years
The condition of the system matters more than simply cleaning it according to an arbitrary schedule.
Commercial Duct Cleaning After Renovations
Renovations can produce large amounts of drywall dust, sawdust and other fine debris.
If the HVAC system was operated during construction, some of that material can be pulled into the return system and distributed through the ductwork.
For businesses that have recently completed renovations, post-renovation duct cleaning may be worth considering before the space returns to normal operation.
How Much Does Commercial Duct Cleaning Cost?
There isn't a single price that works for every commercial property.
The cost of light commercial duct cleaning depends on factors such as:
- Number of HVAC systems
- Size of the building
- Amount of ductwork
- Number of supply and return ducts
- Accessibility
- Ceiling height
- Location of the HVAC equipment
- Condition of the duct system
Most of our light commercial duct-cleaning jobs generally fall in the $400 to $1,000 range, although larger or more complicated systems may require a separate quote.
We prefer to understand the job before giving you a price rather than advertise an unrealistically low starting price and add charges later.
